Well we traveled all day yesterday thru cold, rain, sleet and hail. No kidding. It hailed on us pretty hard one time and then off and on all day. We have rode the trike in all kinds of weather, but its a cheap ride.
We arrived in Moab, Utah where we will stay for 5 -6 days. We plan on taking the girls, Beth, Beka & Jennifer jeeping. We have a few jeep trails picked out just for them. pictures will be posted :) Although pictures never do the scene justice.
It is cool here this morning which is very unusual for Moab. When we first found this place back in 1996, it was not very popular or crowded but now OMG there are way too many people coming here. It is a big bicycle town, people come to ride bicycles out in canyonlands, which is crazy. Moab is also famous for Delicate Arch, which is in Arches National Park. The park is just outside Moab city limits and is a GREAT park. I like to see how many arches I can see, in and out of the park. I love the red rock. There are snow capped mountains in the distance and make a beautiful backdrop for the red rock. OK wish all of you were here enjoying the sites!

Traveling through Colorado is such a great ride. My eyes never get full. I love all the mountains, rocks, flowers and rivers. We will go thru a mountain pass in the morning and will see snow. I love how we can be burning up one day in 100 degree weather and the next be in snow capped mountains. We truly live in a great country. I really wish everyone would travel and see how awesome this land is.

This is an oil well, you will see them spotted throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. I wish I had one in my field, and it was pumping money into my pocket. lol

`After traveling about 500 miles that day we were glad to get do Dodge City, Kansas and get some good cold raspberry tea. We ate, found a hotel and got us a cup of coffee and relaxed for a while. The hotel internet was not very good so I could not update my blog last night. I am still trying to figure out how to get the pictures where I want them to be.

New roads, hot weather and lots of sunscreen!

Well we left Eurika Springs after trying to find a resturant open at 6:30 am and did not. We drove several miles before we found a little ma & pa cafe open. It was homemade bread, grits and over easy eggs. umm good. Oh did I forget good strong, hot coffee. It was a nice little place Korner Kafe, how many of those can we have. anyway it was good. We drove into Missouri for a short distance and then entered Oklahoma. The landscapes changes after a few miles or more into the next state. Oklahoma gets flat and windy through most of the state. I know there are always exceptions depending on where you go but it seems when we travel throught Oklahoma and Kansas the wind beats you almost to death. It was really hot even if the wind was blowing. There are many grain fields, wheat, corn and also lavender fields. The fields are endless, acres and acres of grain. I always think of the song America The Beautiful, you know the one O beautiful for spacious skies and amber waves of grain (is that how it goes?) We also see many grain silos. Oh also in Kansas and the east side of Colorado the cattle feed lots are all over. They used to be closer to hwy 50, but I guess EPA or someone made them move them futher back from the highway. You can still see a few close to the road though and I got a few pics, here is the beef!

still on the road

We left Forrest City, Arkansas this morning after our continental breakfast (cereal & coffee). We had to search for the scenic route that I wanted to take, sometimes the map just is NOT very clear. Jan is really good at finding the right road to get you to the right road, and that's just what he did. We rode through the countryside of Arkansas and saw lots of flowers and big pretty house and some not so pretty houses. There was a few turns and of course they were not on the map, at least I didn't see them, but Jan said it was perfecty clear to him. OK, maybe I get confused sometimes. I guess that's why we have each other. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes he is. We took the scenic route all the way across Arkansas, well almost all the way across. I will post a few pictures of the Ozarks we traveled through. We got almost to Oklahoma and ran into rain. We had pulled under a shelter at First Baptist Church of Green Forrest and thought the worst of it had passed, so we took off. OMG, we got about another mile down the road and the bottom fell out. We go soaked and the road turned into a river. I thought we were going to start floating. Needless to say I don't feel very safe when all three wheels are skiing down the road. I should know by now don't tell Jan to be careful, that just makes him less careful I think. Makes him mad :)))). I think thats my job though and I seem to do it well. lol We decided to stop in Eureka Springs for the night. Didn't want to chance any more showers today. We will try to get an early start tomorrow.

Trike Trip 6-7-2010

Well hello everyone. We left Live Oak Monday morning (6-7-2010) on our trip. We had to go by and see Jonas before we left. I am going to MISS him so bad. (Yes girls I will miss ya'll too) I kept all my troubles in my head for hours even after leaving. Aunt Irene is still in the hospital and I am praying she will go home soon. I left my kids a few good deeds they have to do :), maybe they are not good deeds if I have to threaten them. ha Anyway I hope they/yes ya'll, will check on her for me. Of course I will be on the phone myself checking on her. We rode about 370 miles the first day. We camped the first night in Clanton, Ala. at Higgins Ferry Park. We were not really prepared to camp but we made the best of it. We did not bring towels so we had to use our shirts to dry off. We also did not have a blanket or pillow. I can say it was not the best night I have ever had. But we only spent $6.00 for the campspot. $$:) But now I know why most "tent" camping women look so ugly the next day. I didn't even have a mirror to put on my mascara.

We rode over 400 miles today (6-8-2010). This morning we ate breakfact at Kounty Kitchen (gee how many of these can we have in this country). It was pretty good and the people we real friendly. So friendly in fact that one may when he left gave me a fifty dollar bill. I was left with my mouth hanging open in disbelief. I am convinced that there are still good people left in this ole' world after all. :) Now if that would happen every day we would come out pretty good on this trip.

Tonight we are staying at Americas Best Value Inn, only $58.00 and thats a value. We ate at the Sawmeal Cafe. I was ready for a good cup of coffee, good food and cold air and they delivered. Now I am getting ready to go to bed with a blanket and a good fluffy pillow. Tonight will definetly be better. We are not giving up our tent camping though, we went to Wal Mart and got us a blanket and small towels for our next campground. Our trike is so packed out we had to figure out how to create some pillows out of plastic bags or something. OK keep logged in for our next days adventure. Oh, if we are tent camping we don't have electricity so I won't be blogging that night.... take care...st

round about

Well as usual we have been busy. On May 7th & 8th we were in Destin at our time share, Beach Street Cottages. We really had a nice time. We ate at Camille's, they served really good sushi and had a wonderful dessert, Tiramisu. The dessert was a real treat because we NEVER, do dessert. We had lost a few pounds so I guess that's why we indulged. I guess we are trying to find the few pounds :).. We went for a long walk on the beach that evening, not romantic, lol more for exercise. We walked so fast Jan rubbed a blister on his heel from the sand. lol it was kinda funny that happened. We did not see any evidence of the oil spill thank goodness. I did find a little plastic shovel buried in the sand so I brought it back for Jonas. He likes to dig in the sand at my house. It was a nice relaxing time. We also ate at "The Back Porch" again and loved the crab & shrimp dip they have for an appetizer. umm umm good. We just didn't have enough time to eat at all the resturant we wanted to eat at. Oh, I forgot "Another Broken Egg" for breakfast, it was great also. On Mothers Day, Jan & I shared the cinnamon roll french toast, that was a Mothers Day treat. It was delicious. We arrived home on Sunday and all the girls came over and we had ice-cream sundays. Wow now that I am writing this I see just how much I ate over the weekend. I guess it would pay to keep a food diary...maybe I would be thinner... you think.

We are gearing up for the BLUSH Dance Company recital. Jan has made the most amazing props. I chose well when I captured him for my husband.. He is so talented. I will try to post pictures of the props soon. Beka is busy getting things in order and trying to get her 3 yr olds to actually pay attention. I hope they dance SOME when they get on stage. I remember all my girls at that age. When they get up there they look at the audience and forget all that their dance teacher taught them. They are trying to find a familiar face in the sea of people looking at them. But who cares if they dance, they are always the star of the show because they are so darn cute.

I have been finding new friends lately on Facebook, well should they be new "old" friends, not that they are old, but that its been a long time since I talked to them. But one friend I was looking for never showed up on facebook so I started asking questions about her again. I had searched the internet in the past and call a couple of numbers to no avail. I asked Melaine about her again and she said that Marsha's daughter had modeled with Michelle W. and she might know where she was. Well I found Marsha in Jennings. Can you imagine... this girl was my best girlfriend in the 7th grade. I remember laughing a lot with her. We just seemed to hit it off really well and became good friends. She moved away and I never heard from her again. I still wonder why she didn't try to find me... but thats OK. We have reconnected and sharing stories about our grandchildren. We have yet to see each other face to face but we have plans to meet soon.

Ok will return to this later. I have to help Beka at Blush.

My family hosted twin girls from Russia in July 07, of course we love them so much. January and Patrick hosted them first in December 06 and wanted to adopt but because of the age difference they were told no. Patrick and January were two young to adopt the girls because the age difference was not enough. Of course they were heart broken. While the twins were here the family that host them are obligated to take them to see families that might be interested in adopting, so they did take them to several events where they met other families. Well we loved the girls so much we decided to adopt and hosted them in July 07. They came to us again and we feel as though they are part of our family. will finish this saga later...
